Recent publications and submittalsIn an addition to the list of publications, the author has published in 2003: Shutov, V.A. Estimation of spatial and temporal variations of land surface evaporation for regional climate modeling. - Meteorol. and Hydrol., 2003, No. 4, pp. 102-112 (in Russian) Abstract. Approaches to estimation of spatially distributed evaporation are presented and empirically substantiated. A model of evapotranspiration has been developed based upon the experimental results. The model calculations were performed with special reference to an assessment of the climatic wetness as necessary for plant agriculture. The model take into account a non-linear relationships between soil moisture and evaporation, influence of the moisture flux within the aeration (non-saturated) zone and individual peculiarities in transpiration of plants. It is made possible to simulate variations of climatic and moistening parameters for three typical (contrasting) years. As was found, the climatic characteristics (the ratio of actual to potential evaporation and the difference between precipitation and evapotranspiration rates) have more dynamical behavior than soil moisture has. Spatial variability of the evapotranspiration and related (latent) energy flux in the atmospheric surface layer has been evaluated through spatial variability of the soil moisture and soil water properties. Non-linearity of the "evaporation - soil moisture" relationships and spatial non-homogeneity of the soils cause a decrease of the evaporation rates calculated. Submitted are the following papers: Shutov, V.A. Radar-based information as applied to engineering hydrology. - Water Resources (in Russian) The paper are compiled from the author's work in radar hydrology and further develops these works. There was an argument between the author and its peer-reviewer. I would like to expound it literary as a dialogue of two fictitious personages: Atmos (the author is graduated firstly as meteorologist) and Hydros (that person who is a traditionalist in hydrology). Applied aspects of the snow hydrology studies. - Bulletin of the Russian Academy of Sciences (in Russian) Shutov, V.A., A.A. Kapotov, N.I., Kapotova, and I.V. Nedogarko.
